New for 2016, Delaware's own Barrel of Makers takes up residence at Mount Pleasant Engineering Labs. This partnership will see collaboration between experienced idea developers, students and community members. VEX Robotics Competition - the largest and fastest growing high school robotics program globally, with more than 12,000 teams from 33 countries playing in over 1,000 tournaments worldwide. Students build innovative robots and compete year-round in a variety of matches. In addition to learning valuable engineering skills, students gain life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, communication, collaboration, project management, and critical thinking.
Power Racing Series - “Engineering, technology, diversity, and above all imagination are at the core of what we represent. We believe that sharing open source knowledge, tools, and tech among inspired makers of all ages and abilities will unlock the solutions to some of the most difficult challenges we face today.”
Miss Makers gives excited young builders who are typically underrepresented in the STEM fields, the time, space and materials to bring their ideas to life. Our well equipped learning and development space transforms into a Maker’s playground, unleashing creativity into creation.
TEAMS - ‘Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science’ is an annual competition for middle and high school students designed to help them discover their potential for engineering. During this competition, students apply math and science knowledge in practical, creative ways to solve real-world engineering challenges.
WikiHouse FirstState - the world’s first student-led chapter of the WikiHouse movement. Our goal is to develop a proof of concept for sustainable, locally manufactured housing for disaster relief, low-income, or reduced footprint applications. Inspired by recent events, we hope this project can provide a permanent solution to the displacement of refugees from the Middle East and Africa.
Electric Vehicle Team - designs, fabricates and tests electric vehicles for speed and endurance competition at Dover International Speedway.
